Echoes from Essex - The Grand Finale

Join electric voice theatre and Chelmsford Theatres for the grand finale of Echoes from Essex - Minerva Scientifica.

 

Featuring music, art and science created by local people over the summer Echoes from Essex - The Grand Finale brings together the work from the Children’s song writing workshops: Splash, Burble, Gurgle and Whoosh together with the Soundings sessions with specially commissioned music, art works and animations and performed by internationally renowned performers.

Join us for an amazing scientific time travelling musical adventure exploring the lives of:

Margaret Cavendish: The Blazing Star from Colchester. Renowned author of The Blazing World.

Elizabeth Tollet: Stratford’s Scientific Poet. Isaac Newton praised her achievements, yet the poetry of multi-talented Tollet expresses her resentment at being unjustly excluded from the science world.

Ellen Willmott: The Botanical Gardener of Brentwood.

Gulielma Lister: Leytonstone’s World Expert on Fungi. A meticulous observer, illustrator and collector famous for her research into slime mould.

Florence Attridge: spent her whole career with Marconi, winning a British Empire Medal after the Second World War for her classified contributions to developing radio spy sets.

Beryl Platt: a distinguished engineer and campaigner for female education who worked on fighter aircraft during the Second World War.
