T100 Calling: Southend - Tide Turning (beach)
T100 Calling: T100 Walking, Talking & Making Festival 2020.
T100 Walking Festival: T100 Calling takes as its theme mandalas in 2020. A series of walks led by experienced walkers will visit sites along the Thames Estuary, starting and ending in Purfleet–on–Thames. At key locations on the walks, beautiful large-scale mandalas will be made. Open to all. Download the Mandala Activity Packs to get prepared. To find out more visit: http://thurrock100.com/2020-walks/
The Southend leg of the festival is this year online: On 13 and 15 September, people can explore the foreshore and a local green space, create a mandala from found materials and share online. Kinetika has been working with Southend Beach Care to create mandalas on the beach.
Tide Turning: An invitation to explore your own local area
Between the 13th – 15th of September we invite you to explore your own local area. Find a quiet green space or area of beach and make a mandala using natural materials you collect on route to explore the theme of Tide Turning.
Reflect on the issues of climate change, coastal erosion and the impact that lockdown has had on our environment. As you make the mandala be inspired by the natural landscape in which we live and take a moment to respect the Earth. You could even record your walk and share it for others to enjoy.
Share your mandala in our T100 Walking Arts Facebook Group and any commitments you have made as a result of taking part.
