Thurrock Festival 2020 Live & Digital

The inaugural Thurrock Festival, rescheduled from earlier this year, will now take place on September 19th with an exciting blend of live and online events.

The festival was established in 2020 by the Anglo-Asiatic Arts and Heritage Alliance (AAAHA) and is inspired by the motto of Thurrock – ‘By Thames to all the peoples of the world’. This annual festival is unique in bringing the creative cultures of Thurrock and the world together through live and digital platforms.

What’s On - Live (12pm-2:30pm)

In partnership with Kinetika’s T100 Mandalas project, a substantial public participatory mandala will be created at Grays Wharf along the Thames, south of Grays High Street. Spaces are limited due to Covid Safe restrictions and only 30 places are available so booking is essential. To book, please click here.

MANDI, a large recycled plastic puppet, will spring stunningly to life. An acronym for Mandala Adored Nobel Deity Icon, she has been created by local artists Cece Luna. She will be dancing to specially composed pieces from her Treasure Chest of Music.

A banner of Ketna Patel’s 4 metre W.T.F. artwork adds a brilliant splash of pop art colour to Grays Wharf.

The mandala theme marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.

What’s On - Digital

TFD 2020 has an array of exciting exhibitions, performances and videos that will be available to view throughout the day via the festival website.

You can expect to see works that respond creatively to themes of Earth Day, Black Lives Matter, Covid-19 and lockdown; as well as showcasing world talent by Thames to all peoples of the world.
